Without the aid of Hermione Granger’s Time Turner (for those that are Harry Potter fans!), it’s less about giving yourself extra hours and more using the time you have more efficiently.
Here’s some key things you can do to become more efficient:
- Delegation: Whilst it can be tough letting go at first, delegating tasks to employees or contractors such as Virtual Assistants or Virtual Business Managers, can help you to free up your time.
- Time management: Doing a audit of your time for a period of 3-4 weeks can really help to highlight where you are wasting time. Time blocking (so you allow a set amount of time for specific tasks and that’s all you work on in that time (unless you finish quicker than anticipated!), prioritising tasks, ensuring you set realistic deadlines, and eliminating time-wasting activities (no more Tik Tok scrolling!) can really help you to focus and use the time you have more appropriately.
- Automation: Technology is awesome! Alright it might have glitches every now and then but there are so many tools out there that we can use to automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes. If technology isn’t your bag, speak to a Virtual Assistant…it’s what they excel at!
- Work-life balance: You know what happens when batteries starts to drain… things get slower and start going wrong. Humans are no different! Set boundaries between work and personal time, and make sure that you have time for self-care and rest.
- Planning: create a daily or weekly schedule to help you stay organised and on track. At the end of each day, write a list of the three things that you have to achieve the following day, it will help you to start the day knowing exactly where to start and keep you focussed.
